Meeting of Don Bosco Volunteers in Benediktbeuern

Also this year started with a traditional meeting of Don Bosco Volunteers in Benediktbeuern. Around 40 former international volunteers met at the Aktionszentrum to exchange ideas and to get informed about the developments of the Don Bosco movement at local and at international level.

This year we had the pleasure to host Fr. Joseph Grünner, Provincial of the SDB in Germany, who held a session about the German Province and about the principles of Don Bosco in our society.

Symposium on Recognition of NFE

From 14th to 16th November, took place at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg a Symposium on recognition of youth work and non-formal learning, in which took part Ángel Gudiña, representing Confederación Don Bosco and also Don Bosco Youth Net; as anyone else could attend this important meeting; andsettle a stand with promotional materials of both Organizations.

From 17th to 20th November, took place in Braga, in the North of Portugal the Council of Members of the European Youth Forum (YFJ), to whom DBYN belongs as an observer member. As representative of a Don Bosco organization is a great chance to get to know other European realities, both Youth Councils and Youth Organizations, and at the same time share what young people working in Don Bosco style thinks.

YOUTH IN ACTION vs. ERASMUS FOR ALL?

On the 23rd of November, the European Commission has published it's proposal for the future programme which is going to replace Youth in Action. Against the advise of the youth sector, the Commission has decided to integrate all learning programmes into 1 mayor "Erasmus for All" programme. You can read this proposal on following website:

YES! for SPYS Malta

In line with the 2011 European Year for Volunteering, a group of youth volunteers coming from the Salesian Pastoral Youth Services (SPYS), organised a two week Summer camp, called "YES! - Youths Engage in Senglea" aimed at giving an opportunity to young people to learn through non-formal methods.

European seminar for returning volunteers

22 young volunteers from 10 European countries, all having an experience doing voluntary work abroad, met in Vienna the weekend from the 17th to the 20th of November. Reason for this gathering was the seminar "Lifelong Engagement After Voluntary Experience", organised by Jugend Eine Welt and Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw.
