Seminar on Participation

From Thursday 4th till Sunday 7th of April, Don Bosco Youth-Net was
invited by our Italian partner in Rome for the ‘Seminar on
Participation’. For this theme Luiza Bara came to introduce the
‘European Youth Forum’. The presentation pointed her organisation as
the platform for youth representation within Europe. Afterwards the
partners looked into two workshops how Don Bosco Youth-Net can become a
member of the YFJ.
Next to this there was also some time to
exchange ideas between partners. There was an exchange market where the
partners first presented their ideas. After this you could join other
interested partners to make the ideas more concrete.
Just to give
some examples. There is a joint proposition to organise an
international week in Malta. During this week there will be a focus on
leadership, teamwork, culture and survival. This should take place in
2005. For this project Spain, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Malta and
Belgium are sitting together.
There is also a joint proposition to
walk to Santiago de Compostella. For this project there’s an interest
from Spain, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Italy,
Great-Britain and Germany.
For this moment every partner is
looking separately how these projects can be realised. At our next
network meeting we can look again how these projects can become
reality. Next to that we also want to start working on a large scale
project on volunteering, where multiple partners will be involved.
Overall
Rome was a very satisfying seminar; we kept a nice balance between
content (YFJ sessions) and exchange (new ideas, concrete initiatives).
Next to that the social contacts between the partners have been
strengthened. In this way we’ve made a solid ground for the further
growth of the Don Bosco Youth-Net.
