Description:
In 2008 the international office of Don Bosco Youth-Net will apply for an EVS placement itself. The volunteer would work together as a team with the international secretary, taking part in the daily functioning of such a secretariat and helping out with some of the international activities. The concrete tasks will be defined together with the volunteer, connected with the competences and interests of the volunteer.
By hosting a volunteer ourselves we want to expand our expertise in EVS and offer a better service to our partner organisations. Furthermore, we are convinced that by involving volunteers at the international secretariat we will strengthen the involvement of the young volunteers, making the international secretariat more within their reach. It will also promote volunteering within the partner organisations, by setting an example of involving (or expand the involvement) of volunteers on all levels of the organisation.
Finally it is also linked with our way of working. Don Bosco Youth-Net exists through the participation of young volunteers. Young volunteers are involved in organising our projects, but also within our partner organisations and our statutory bodies. We do this because we are convinced this is the only way to keep our network up-to-date to the interests of young people involved. The international secretariat is the only hiatus. There is a counsellors group of volunteers giving advise to it, but no volunteer is directly involved. The volunteer would fill this hiatus.
