Mission:
The Don Bosco movement is inspired by Don Bosco and the pioneer Salesians who began the mission of Don Bosco in the Netherlands. They try to be signs and bearers of the Christian love for the young, especially those who are poor, needy, and troubled youth. This predilection for the youth is seen in all Don Bosco works and has become the priority in the context of the Church's total ministry, and is characterized by the spirit of Don Bosco. Challenged and confronted by today's highly diversified, rapidly changing, multicultural Netherlands society, Don Bosco movement in the Netherlands respond creatively through a variety of ministries to seek out and serve those in need after the example of Don Bosco.
Example activities:
The Don Bosco Movement has its activities and ministries (summer camps, youth centres, crisis centres, Salesian presence etc.) provide not only services to the young and leadership training opportunities to young people but also cater to the promotion and formation of new SDBs and lay collaborators in Salesian assistance and the preventive system. The Don Bosco Movement in the Netherlands has also realized the importance and necessity of the coordination and communion of youth ministry in local, national and international level. “Build communion within the Salesian Youth Movement.” (Fr. Pascual Chávez V.) The Salesiaanse Delegatie Nederland pursues ways to get in touch with world wide youth movement. It is in this frame work Don Bosco Youth Net has a vital role in developing coordination and communion of youth initiatives in an international (European) level.
