The Italian National Office for Civil Service, under the Presidency of the Council of Ministries, is going to apply for AMICUS, DG Education and culture call for Proposals whose deadline is 31 October. The general aim is the creation of a common prototype of Civic service at European able to facilitate the European citizenship creation. The Aktionszentrum Benediktbeuern is partner organisation in this project and will cooperate in the publication of a handbook of best practices in the field of the European civil/voluntary service. The project is divided into 3 mandatory activities: The first “Information and awareness – raising” Basically consisting in information about AMICUS, national civic service and about the two experiences trough the normal tools that UNSC uses to promote civic service in Italy. The official presentation of European Civic Service: a COMMON AMICUS will takes place during the celebration of the “national civic service day” (NCSD) on 6, March 2009. On this occasion UNSC in collaboration with the host partner organisations and supported by the italian organisations will organise an European Seminar titled “ Civic service: compared experiences”, to which, a responsible of each host partner organisation is invited to participate and to present the general situation about Civic service in his/her Country (programmes, policies, data….). The report will be structured according a common scheme previously concerted between all the partners. The second Activity ”research and evaluation”: is dedicated to the elaboration of a document including all the works of the 7 partners in an European dimension, the first step for the individuation of an European civic service. This activities require a deep collaboration between all partners in terms of communication and exchange of information (e-mails, newsletters.. video conferences..). This general document will be used for the general training of the 21 italian volunteers (10/12 days in Rome). The third activity “Transnational activities of civic service and volunteering of young people between 16 and 28 years old, within the European union” consists in the sending of the volunteers (may/November 2009). In this phase, considered the heart of the project, according with the principle of “learning by doing”, the italian volunteers have the real possibility to support the national volunteers of the host organisations during the implementation of their own civic service first of all in these following sectors: “arts and culture”, European citizenships, participation, intercultural dialogue.The entire experience lived by the young people will offer the “volunteer/young people perspective” in the process for the individuation of an European civic service prototype. The host partner will contribute in the “on arrival training” with its own trainers supporting the italian one.. The final phase of the project implies the evaluation of all the material concerning with the research made during the implementation of activity of type 2 and, that one lead by the volunteers in the activity of type 3. The official presentation of the handbook concerning the best practices about European civic service, will take place on 6, March 2010, during the celebration of the NCSD, with the participation of host partner responsibles, italian organizations, the 21 volunteers.
