DBYN's communication structure

This policy paper is not a communication plan. The aim of this document is to describe the way how communication works inside Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw. By unrevealing this structure we create a tool to evaluate (and alter) the ways we communicate.

This is necessary because communication is an issue in each organisation: the larger the organisation, the bigger the issue. Our network is an international organisation, which increases the difficulties in communication. Our network is a non-profit organisation, which increases the difficulties as well because of the low budgets available for communication. It is a big challenge to create a smooth-working communication flow in a type of organisation like ours. This policy paper on our communication structure is a first step.

The document consists of 3 main chapters:

  1. The first chapter is an introduction to Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw. Before talking about anything it is important to fully understand our "message".
  2. The second chapter briefly introduces our house style
  3. The third chapter describes our communication structure and how to develop it

The next steps will be developing different communication plans to improve the different (sub)categories of communication in this structure. This step-by-step approach will allow us to gradually improve our communication flows and strengthen our communication structure as a whole.

Communication is a continuous process, depending on the needs and the resources of the network we can take different actions for communication. Communication is not an exact science, the outcomes cannot always be predicted. But the only way to communicate is to act. To communicate successfully is only possible when it is done in a structured way.
