From 14th to 16th November, took place at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg a Symposium on recognition of youth work and non-formal learning, in which took part Ángel Gudiña, representing Confederación Don Bosco and also Don Bosco Youth Net; as anyone else could attend this important meeting; andsettle a stand with promotional materials of both Organizations.
This Symposium gathered over a 100 experts on Youth Work coming from a big variety of countries, from Iceland to Armenia or Russia; as it was organized by the Council of Europe. Among the experts there were National Agencies, trainers, representatives from Youth Organizations and the Youth Forum, Youth Workers, Politicians, Researchers...
Apart from sharing experiences, tools, resources, and good practices, the biggest outcome of this Symposium was a Statement done by all the participants in which it was claimed the importance of the recognition of Non - Formal Learning as a tool for life and give it the proper resources to develop good providers of it. This statement also contained a detailed action plan which covered several aspects revised by several working groups that took place the second day of the Symposium.
Let's see if this Symposium leads to a "Strasbourg process" similar to Bolonia according to University, and the action plan prepared by the participants gives tools also to combat the Erasmus for all Programme which was seen as something negative for Youth Work and Youth Organizations.
