Mission:

Fired by the spirit of Don Bosco we celebrate God’s presence in the young and the poor. Together with them we struggle to make real in our lives and in our world the values of the Gospel. To achieve this we aim to be present with the young and the poor. We respect the dignity and worth of every person, helping them to discern and develop their unique potential and life-direction. We witness to the love of God in all our attitudes and actions in a way that constantly invites ourselves and them to a commitment to Jesus and His Gospel, especially to the call to serve. We stand by the many young and poor who experience little dignity and worth, and for whom Gospel and Church have little meaning. We collaborate with all who work with the young and poor, especially with those who share our Salesian ideal and spirit.

Example activities:
  1. Non-Formal Youth Work, support and outreach in England (London, Huyton, Bootle, Bolton, Bollington) and Scotland (Edinburgh)
  2. Training of Youth Workers, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds
  3. Facilitation of volunteers both in the UK and overseas
  4. Organisation of international activities including training
  5. Working in educational establishments (London, Chertsey, Farnborough, Bootle and Bolton)
  6. Working in Parish situations in England & Scotland
  7. Maintaining and developing a Retreat Centre where young people can experience community living, leadership training and spiritual formation, and reflect on their life situations and roles
  8. Continue to support with finance and personnel the Salesian presence in AFW, West Africa, whereby the impact of the ravages of civil war, poverty and lack of education can be addressed by provision of schools, training centres, post-war care and provision for street children, orphans and ex-child soldiers.
