Why not do an Erasmus+ internship at DBYN?

8/6/2020

My name is Sara and I come from Italy. During my last year of studies, I applied to an Erasmus+ traineeship because I thought that could have been a perfect way to conclude my student career.

How to do an Erasmus+ intersnhip?
It is necessary to be still a student during the application process, in which you sign a contract called Learning Agreement between the receiving organisation and your university. It contains the description of your tasks, skills that you will develop, monitoring and evaluation moment.
Why do it with DBYN?
This is my second time at Don Bosco Youth Net, the first was during the summer 2018: three intensive months of working and volunteering experiences, travels and international activities. I later became a member of DBYN’s pool of youth representative and I continued to collaborate representing the organisation in international events. This cooperation stimulated me during my last year of university and motivated me to do another and last Erasmus+ traineeship.
DBYN represents a very important stage of my formation, as a young person and as a future employee. I learned, and I’m still learning, about the world of international NGOs, Salesian educational system, European youth policies, non-formal education, European funding, advocacy and human rights protection. I’m really enjoying the working environment at the Secretariat office, always welcoming and friendly. It is like a second family for me.

What to say about Leuven?
It is a lovely student city, close to Brussels, where you can easily go out and meet young people from all over the world. It gives you a great opportunity to improve your language skills and make new friendships.

How to sum everything up?
I will say “yes” again for an internship at DBYN thanks to its passionate approach to youth issues, its strong commitment to human right and European values. If you are thinking about a working experience at the organisation, just put aside the fear of trying something new and only ask yourself: “In the end, why not?!”.
Good luck!

Thank you so much Sara for your testimony! It is a pleasure to be working with you and we'll miss you at the office once your internship finishes.
If you are interested in doing an internship or Erasmus+ internship at Don Bosco Youth-Net, please send us an email at info@donboscoyouth.net. We are looking forward to meet you as our new intern. ☺

DBYN presents: new intern communication

My name is Sien. I’m a Belgian student at University College PXL, Hasselt (BE) and I’m studying communication management. I’m graduating in June 2018.
I’m doing my internship at Don Bosco Youth-net from the beginning of March until the beginning of June.
In the beginning of this academic year I went on Erasmus to Lisbon. I’ve been there for three months and it was the most interesting experience I’ve ever accomplished.

Thanks to Erasmus, I figured out that I wanted to do an internship where I still have that international contact and where I can improve my communication skills, in Dutch but also in English.
Doing my internship at DBYN is definitely very challenging for me because it’s my first experience in a real working environment. Everything they do is in the context of young people and I strongly believe that they need our help as much as we need theirs. I’m sure that I will gain a lot of knowledge in terms of how to communicate in a good and effective way with people in Belgium but also in other countries around the world.
I’m convinced that this internship will help me grow in a professional way but also in a personal way.
The organisation has a lot to offer, and so do I!

My name is Salvi, I am an animator at Centro Juvenil Bosco in Cádiz (Spain) and now I am an intern of DBYN until February. For the end of my university studies I wanted to have a new international experience in the field of communication, so I decided to do this internship.  It is a challenge for me but I think I can do it very well because it has all I want for my personal and professional development: social communication and Don Bosco’s style.

Since 2010, I am animator at Centro Juvenil Bosco in Cádiz. Among other things, I have been responsible of the social networks (you can check it in twitter and instagram -@cjboscocadiz– and facebook) for the promotion of all activities which are carried out at the Oratory.
I have studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Seville and I am finishing a master in Strategic Management and Innovation in Communication at the University of Cádiz. I want to specialize in communication for social change and development. I consider that this internship is perfect for this.

I am interested in the youth problems in the world. I think this internship is a very important experience to know more about this and to try to enhance the life of young people who are living in Europe. I think that with this internship I will grow personally and professionally. It is going to help me to be better person and to keep fighting for a better world.

A different story is going to start and I am keen on doing it real!

Don Bosco Youth-Net soon to release new website

5/2/2016

After almost 8 years, DBYN is soon to release its new website. The previous website was developed in a time when social networking and other web 2.0 applications were in full development. In this time we worked together with a Belgian youth work organisation, specialised in web development for the youth work sector. We were ambitious, integrating many web 2.0 applications allowing us to make simple mash-ups and personalized mailing lists. However, we were surpassed by the rapid development of the internet itself. Many of the functionalities of our website, were soon taken over by Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Google apps.

Since 2012 DBYN started to develop dedicated project websites.  First with web-application EDICY, but when this European platform changed their business plan, we moved to the WEEBLY platform. After a few years of experience with project websites, we decided to transfer also our homepage to this platform.
