![]() Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw has released a games App for Smartphone and tablet. The App consists of a unique collection of over 240 games to inspire group activities. The game App is a fun and interactive tool to be used by animators and youth workers on youth exchanges, summer camps or training courses, as well as an inspiration for playing group games in youth clubs, schools and oratorios. You can download the Games App from our Games App portal page, or directly from ITunes or Google Play. The App has a search function where you can search on name, age group, type of playing area, type of game. There is a special search function, which searches for game appropriate for “playground animation”. These activities are ideal for animation during lunch-time breaks in schools. The games use a set of symbols as extra illustrations for the type of game: f.e. grass if it is play on a field of grass, an umbrella is the game can be played inside. A user can “like” by clicking a heart at the top of the screen, creating a list of favourites. If you shake the Smartphone, the App will show a random game in the collection. As games are culturally determined, it is important to use the App as inspiration and adapt it to local cultural setting in which it is used.
The collection of games is included in the App. This means that once the App has been installed, the user doesn’t need connection with the internet to have access to the games. DBYN will make annual updates of the games database. The App also includes a calendar with all upcoming activities of Don Bosco Youth-Net. The App has been originally developed by DBYN’s Belgian member organisation in Dutch. With support of DBYN’s German, English and Irish member organisation we develop the English release. The App has been co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme and the European Youth Foundation through their structural grants for DBYN. Links:
